"Song of the month" Course

When mixing these scales together you get those minor to major phrases there are very common when playing Jazz Blues in a major key.

The basic scales I´m using to the Bb7 chord are:

- Bb7 mixolydian scale - 1 (Bb), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, b7

- F minor Pentatonic - 1 (F), b3, 4, 5, b7

- F minor blues scale - 1 (F), b3, 4, b5, 5, b7

..and to the Bdim7:

- B diminished scale - 1 (B), 2, b3, 4, b5, b6, 6, 7

Good Luck!

Here´s the music score with guitar tabs to the transcribed lines in the soloing.

The basic scale I´m using to Am7 & D7 is:

- G harmonic minor scale 1 (G), 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, 7

It´s more of an altered scale to the D7 chord though. The intervals from the D tone as a root will then be

- 1 (D), b2, 3, 4, 5, b6, b7

I see the Am7 chord as a suspended chord released with the D7 in this situation.

The basic scale I´m using to the Gm7 & C7 chords is:

- F major scale (Ionian) scale - 1 (F), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

In other words to Gm7 it´s the G minor Dorian scale & to C7 it´s the C7 Mixolydian scale

The basic scales I´m using to F7 (Cm7) are:

- F7 mixolydian scale - 1 (F), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, b7

- F minor Pentatonic - 1 (F), b3, 4, 5, b7

- F minor blues scale - 1 (F), b3, 4, b5, 5, b7

I see the Cm7 chord as a suspended F7 chord here.(Cm7 = F9sus/C)

and same tones works to both chords.

The good thing with playing Jazz Blues...

...is that you always through the chorus can play the blues scale and the minor pentatonic scale in the song key.

In this case in F!
